Getting to the Mall Outlets

Hi -

Does anyone have any advice for hiring a car or getting on with a tour group to the Mall outlet outside of Florence. The tour groups that are advertised charge $40 for a simple bus ride? Thanks in advance.

There are a variety of ways depending on where you want to go as the outlets are all spread out. There are tours that leave from Florence centre and cost about 20euros each. they drop you at each different location and come back at a prearranged time to get you. Alternatively you can get the normal bus from the Florence bus station for about 3 euros to 'The Mall' which has the largest number of shops in one place, YSL, Botegga Veneta, Armani to name a few. Alternatively you can use the train and then a taxi. There are lots of companies who will also design a trip just for you as the outlets are spaced about 30 mins from each other in 4 different locations. The best thing to work out what is right for you is to doa google search on the internet for 'Florence Outlet centres' and see what comes up. One web site to get you started is www.enjoyflorence.com but this isn't the cheapest taxi service. Interestingly, if you ever find yourself near Milan or lake como, visit FOXTOWN, a superb outlet mall with all the big names. It has its own website on www.foxtown.ch (ch as it is in switzerland, just over the italian border).
