From train to main area of interest??

Coming to Florence from Rome for a day trip. Will be taking the Eurostar. How far from the train are the main attractions in Florence and how much will cab ride be??

Thanks

No cab needed.

The very first thing you see as you walk out of the station will be the back of the church of Santa Maria Novella, definitely a "main attraction" in my book. From the front of this church it is well under a half mile to the Duomo and Baptistery. Another few hundred yards will take you to the Bargello, and just round the corner is the Palazzo Vecchio and the Piazza della Signoria. Across the piazza are the Uffizi, and from there it is maybe 200 yards through the courtyard and along the river to the Ponte Vecchio.

Then less than a half mile will take you to the Santa Croce church.

You are now no more than a mile as the crow flies from the station. If you have time and energy to spare you could walk or take a bus or a taxi to the Accademia to see the David, and then you would be only a half mile or so from the station.

And if you start early enough you will have seen most of the "main attractions."

There are plenty of good restaurants and cafes along the way should you need emergency rations at any point...

So it's like a lot of things - a day is almost long enough, and a lifetime is too short...

Enjoy!
