agriturismo in Tuscany

We are planning a road trip around Tuscany in late June and appreciate that we should book accomodation in advance.

On previous trips to other regions of Italy we have had wonderful experiecnes in agriturismo- often just chosing one by chance as we are exploring.

They have always been happy to rent us a room for a night and dinner has been included in the price.

In the tuscan area though, many seem to be more like appartments for minimum one stay week with meals by request. Is this due to the popularity of the place.

Our ideal is a working farm where we can try local produce. We plan to stay mainly in triuangle of Pisa, Sienna and Florence

New property in the countryside of Montepulciano. They produce a very good Nobile of Montepulciano wine, and have an internal restaurant ( but I didn't try it)

There are lots and lots to choose from, and although most allow Saturday-Saturday bookings only, that's not always the case. We lowered our minimum rental to 4 nights in the smaller apartments to help people like you who want the advantages of agriturismo-style lodgings but don't want to stay a whole week.

The Saturday to Saturday rule seems to be a feature of the big agency websites. I don't think they want to deal with briefer stays because of the narrow profit margin. However, the owner direct listings and the single agriturismo websites very frequently have a short minimum stay, often 3 or 4 nights, with no specification of when you can arrive. And you can always take your chances - there a "Camere" signs along the roads throughout the Pisa - Sienna - Florence area.

in late june, main agriturismos or holiday homes do the saturday-saturday, but if you reserve few days before you go, owner swho have a week free when you are interested in it, will get you the room/house for 1-2 days instead to have it empty all week long...

anyway you may directly contact the owners through bbplanet.com and the'll give you the availability or not.

cheers

We stayed here: www.patrignone.com but the pool was shut in late April. Lovely place though and if memory serves, plenty big enough for you all.

Last year we stayed at Le Manzanaie just outside of Montepulciano and loved it! Check out the reviews here on TA.
