Where to stay 2 nights in or near Syracase?

Hi,

I am going to drive from Taomina to Syracase. Use it as a base for 2 nights to explore Syracase and go for excursion such as the Noto triangle. On the 3rd day I will take a 5pm flight fom Catania in late.

I am not a big fan in archeology sites but I might enjoy walking around the historical city like Ortigia and Noto. I've heard that parking might be an issue in Syracase downtown.

As such, shall I stay in Syracase downtown (walking distance to major items in Syracase) or outside Syracase ( in such case where can I park the car during the day trip or go downtown for dinner )?

Thanks

Siracusa is certainly your most convenient place to stay, and parking is not an issue in Siracusa.

If you were to stay outside Siracusa, you would still have to park when visiting Siracusa.

Even without an interest in archaeological sites, it's a joy to stroll Ortigia.

And with a flight, you certainly wouldn't want to stay around Buccheri (Agriturismo Le Case di Sant'Andrea) and the Monti Iblei with the road conditions there.

Origia is Siracusa's most scenic area, more scenic than mainland Siracusa. If your hotel doesn't offer parking, then park at Talete.

It’s very easy to find Talete on Ortigia – Take the bridge to Ortigia. Pass the first and second streets, make a left on the third street (Via Trieste), go to the roundabout and make a right. Follow the road (Talete will be on your left), and take the left under the street, and another left – That will put Talete on your right.

Here’s a map…

And photos of the rather unattractive parking garage…

Hello again over here on this thread.... where would you recommend staying in or around Ortignia..... or in Siracusa, in general - upscale luxury boutique hotel...

In Taromina we are planning on staying at the Villa Ducale - would you concur with that as a good choice?

Gratzi

Yes, a very good choice, but first decide your location, and then decide your hotel!

Favorite and why - Villa Ducale or Villa Carlotta????:

You would probably best enjoy staying directly on ancient Ortigia in Siracusa, so consider Hotel Livingston, Royal Maniace Hotel, Algilà Ortigia Charme Hotel....

Where should I stay?:

Hi mdbasile,

Palazzo del Sale is boutique and upscale, but also simple, a B&B, and not a hotel. It wasn't originally suggested because judging from your choices previously discussed in Taormina and Salina, Palazzo del Sale isn't as full-serviced. Perhaps you would find it charming, but the hotels listed above on Ortigia offer more amenities.

Palazoo del Sale is a wonderful B&B with helpful staff!
