Piazza Marina

Hi,

Just planning our upcoming weekend in Palermo- we'll be there Saturday, Sunday and Monday evening. Is there much going on in piazza Marina in the evenings? If so, which day is best or is it ok to go any evening?

Thanks

Hi. Piazza Marina (and nearby alleys, strrets and surroundings) is lively till late at night every day of the week, of course much more during weekends. Saturday is busy and crowded (noisy) until morning, monday night is much more quiet, many restaurants and bars are closed on monday.

Thanks both. Ok thought that might be so. We have 3 evenings- Saturday, Sunday and Monday- and would like to spend one around teatro massimo, one around via olivella and one around piazza Marina. In terms of liveliness, where should we spend each evening? Or do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks

Via Olivella and teatro Massimo are very near each other, the street is just 100 mts away from the teatro. Perhaps avoid Olivella and the alleys around on saturday night, more crowded and noisy than anywhere else, or go there early, before it gets to crowded (after 11 pm-midnight).

There are many lively areas in the center, near teatro Massimo consider Politeama/via Libertà area, the side streets east and west of via Liberta are lively and with many bars and restaurants.

Monday night is much quieter everywhere, but there's always something open.

Thanks Biondo. How about Sunday evening, where would be the most lively place to go?

Prego lulu_44731. Sunday is mid-way, not crowded as saturday and not quiet as monday. Teatro Massimo/Olivella area could be a good choice on sunday night.

Politeama is good for Saturday. It’s probably best to avoid piazza Olivella on Saturday unless you arrive very early – Sunday would be better.

If you want to eat something near Teatro Massimo, try to avoid places located in the two "touristy alleys" in front of the theatre, via Bara all'Olivella and via Orologio, mostly tourist traps, you'll eat better elsewhere.
