Car rental at Palermo Airport

We are wanting to hire a car from Palermo Airport (avoiding Palermo and Catania centres, as advised!) to drive to Agrigento, Syracuse and Taormina, returning it to Catania airport upon departure. We were planning to book through Holiday Autos (UK) but they seem to use many different operators and the price for the same vehicle varies accordingly. It seems that people have had bad experiences with Advantage, Maggiore, Locauto and some others. Can anyone actually recommend a hire operator in Sicily? Would we be safe to go with Europcar, even thought they are more expensive? Hoping to hear something positive!

Def try Hertz.it the Italy Hertz's site and on the top of the page you will see the English option. Click that and click on partners try to see what partner coupon gives you the best rate. I do this every single year and I always found the best deals this way. Msg me if you need help

Always rent with Hertz or Avis avoid Maggiore or any Italian company at all costs! I rented with Maggiore in Sicily it was a Nightmare!

They are all Italian companies! Some may have a name you recognise (Avis, Hertz) but they are Italian franchises allowed to use the name.

Avoid Maggiore and AutoEuropa (with an "a" at the end).

Welcome to Sicily EPBerko!

Europcar is a reliable supplier, but hire via a reliable broker as well, and ask about the supplier – Keep in mind that AutoEurope would match the rate of a competitor for a comparable rental.

Avoid Maggiore, Autoeuropa (not AutoEurope), Sicily by Car, Locauto, Thrifty, Advantage, Dollar....

This is the link for Hertz. I always found the savings are almost 30% less than your home country's site. Last summer we rented an automatic car from Hertz CTA and the USA site was over 1k for two weeks the same car and dates on the Italian site was 400 euros! Also note that some quotes are cheaper than directly listed if you click on please quote the price at times is much less.

Check the contracts and the terms and conditions, because the contracts and coverage will be different.

Although not Hertz (very reliable), this thread discusses potential differences.

would you recommend driving along the cost- from Palermo airport to marina di Modica? we are to families with kids and it is a bit far, so we need to stop somewhere for a swim and a great pizza :)

Never been to Sicily so we hope Marina di Modica is a nice place...?
