Naples to Palermo Ferry

I understand that during the summer months there is a day time ferry from Naples to Palermo. My wife and I are trying to find out what the view is like, during a day trip and also at night trip.

Thank you

Welcome to Sicily Fran136!

Yes, the Naples-Palermo ferry is an alternative to driving the coast to Sicily. There's also the ferry service from Genova to Palermo.

The price would depend on the number of people, the accommodation, and the vehicle, but expect to pay € 175,00 for two people with a car and an inside cabin.

You might appreciate GAC’s thread about the Genova to Palermo ferry.

Short Med Cruise for 36 Euros:

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187823-i723-k4074…

Yes, the cost may seem expensive, but if you were to drive, ViaMichelin estimates these costs for this route.

http://www.viamichelin.com/

Genova – Palermo:

Costs

133.27 € Avec un véhicule essence

Toll 50.30 € | Petrol 82.97 €

Time

16h50 with 06h48 on motorways

Distance

446 mi with 437 mi on motorways

And the ferry saves the cost of an overnight hotel.

GNV also runs a Civitavecchia (Rome)-Palermo route.

Any views on the relative merits of SNAV vs Tirrenia? I read in some old posts that Tirrenia was struggling a bit but wondered if the situation had changed. We are planning to go Palerno - Naples in January, what is the likelihood of the service being disrupted/delayed as we have train booked from Naples mid morning. Obviously storms can't be predicted but if the service is often cancelled in winter we may choose to go by train instead.

This service is fairly reliable, weather and seas permitting.

There's no real significance difference between Tirrenia, and SNAV/GNV (Grandi Navi Veloci).

Snav/GNV vs. Tirrenia:
