Cooking class?

My husband and I will be in Catania for a week at the end of September/early October. We will not be driving. We are hoping to do day trips with a small group/guide to Mt. Etna, Taormina, and Messina. We also hope to do a cooking class in Catania. Any recommendations? Many thanks!

Welcome to Sicily TravelingSitto!

Perhaps reconsider an excursion to Messina, since Messina is low on attraction.

And very much consider an excursion to Siracusa.

And enjoy a cookery class with Myda.

Thank you, Vagabonda! My husband's family came from Messina...so we must visit there for a day. Syracusa is also on our list...if we are not too tired. I have enjoyed your wonderful info on this site. Many thanks!!

Prego DartmouthTraveler - It's been my pleasure....

Well certainly an ancestral town trumps any other destination DartmouthTraveler!!

Hopefully you'll also see Siracusa.

Wishing you a phenomenal visit!

Hi Vagabonda,

Regarding cooking class, I will be travelling to Sicily in 2 weeks' time with my sister and we would really love to join the cooking class run by Eleonora Consoli, but it seems that her website isn't working, just wondering if you know whether there is any other means through which we can make reservations with her cooking class?

Thanks heaps!

Unfortunately cookery classes aren't being offered at all in August. Cookery classes will resume in September.

Hi Vagabonda,

Thanks for replying so soon! So is it true that most cooking classes are not available in August or just the Eleanora Consoli class? If there are other cooking classes in August, are there any good ones that you would recommend? I am also looking into the cooking classes offered by Villa Brittania, have actually emailed them to ask about it, but haven't heard back from them yet....

Separately, we are also looking to do a day trip to Panarea & Stromboli from Taormina, is SAT tour group the best tour available? Or are there other tour groups that you would recommend?

Thanks again for your help! Have a nice day =)

Ciao Florence,

That is not true - You specifically asked about the cookery class with Eleonora Consoli, and that class is not offered in August.

Perhaps consider the market and cookery class at Al Melograno - “Excellent cooking class in Taormina”:

tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g187892-d264…

SAT runs group bus excursions like many other companies, SAIS or Interbus.

You might also consider a smaller tour -

newtravelservices.net/en/…

Or hire a driver return to Milazzo, and meet an excursion that departs from Milazzo.

Hi Vagabonda, sorry to bug you again, but do you know how we can arrange a driver for a return transfer to Milazzo and how much it will cost roughly? I have checked with Tarnav and they dont offer any transfer services at extra cost....Is there any taxi / car hire companies that we can contact? We are staying at Taormina city centre.

Thanks again!

Cheers,

Florence

Hi Florence,

That is correct, Tarnav doesn't offer transfer services from Taormina, so contact New Travel Services, Sicily Life, or Sicily Limousine Services, perhaps €90 in each direction. Depending on the time of departure, you might consider public transport in one direction.

And there's SAT!
