EasyJet and Wegolo airlines from Rome to Palermo?

We're planning to fly from Rome to Palermo this Oct. We used FF miles on AA to fly to Rome which arrives at 8 a.m.. Noticed the big difference in airplane fares from Alitalia (~$300) versus Easy Jet ($31) and Wegolo ($65)! Of course Alitalia has the better connecting times...looking at a 11 a.m. departure to Palermo. Any opinions on whether it is worth waiting an extra 1.5 hrs. to fly Easy Jet or Wegolo? How much time should I allow between landing in Rome and catching flight to Palermo?

It all depends on how much time you need after you land in Palermo to get to your destination.

Personally I would definitely wait for the Easyjet flight, Alitalia isn't worth $300.

3hrs between flights are more than enough.

Thanks...has anyone flown on EasyJet or Wegolo? Reliability? Aircraft size? Just a bit nervous because the price is so greatly different from Alitalia.

You could easily spend the time in the airport at Rome.

Once you land in Rome, you will have to clear security, then passport control. You’ll be landing in Terminal 5 (International), so you’ll have to take the shuttle over to the domestic terminal, and then clear at the gate. It does take some time.

Air One-Alitalia, easy Jet, WindJet and blue-express all fly from Rome Fiumicino to Palermo.

There are less expensive flights on Alitalia - Check again!

You can check flight stats and reliabiility for airlines on this site.

easyJet and blu-express are generally considered dependable.

Wegolo isn’t an airline, but an international consumer application.

I have used easyjet several times with no problems, clean and decent leg room, also most (to not say all) of easyjet's aircrafts are newer than Alitalia's.

In Rome if you land in T5 you will have take one of the shuttlebus (frequency every 5 mins) to the main terminal (3 mins journey).

Even at the same price I wouldn't fly Aliatlia, and I'm Italian.

Thanks for enlightening me because it appears after clicking on Windjet in the Kayak Booking site as if it were another airline.

Thanks so much for the info on Easy Jet. My Italian husband, also Sal, is 6'7" so was worried about legroom. Good sense of humor...

Unfortunately I'm only 5' nearly 9'', but it gets handy on small airplanes ;-).

Windjet is a new-ish Sicilian lowcost carrier but not as good as Easyjet:

Have a safe journey!

Again thanks for the homepages of Windjet and Easy Jet as we will be flying out of Catania to Venice. Should I be booking the reservations now? We are leaving Oct 9 from Rome to Palermo.

Closer to the dates and more expensive it gets (usually) but sometime there are special offers. If you are sure of you dates, persnally I would book it now, it can't get much cheaper than €24. It's up o you.
