Cagliari - second weekend in December

Hi there,

A group of us are thinking of going to Cagliari for a long weekend in December. It seems like a beautiful city but we are bit worried that most of the places might be closed then. We are not really looking for a beach holiday. Some hiking and exploring would be great. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations? What about the night life in December? Will the bars and clubs be open?

Hi, there are quite a lot of things going on in Alghero at Christmas and around it though not as much as other cities in Europe. It is quite small so everything is proportioned. They usually have a bif firework display on New Year's Eve but you'll find that most pubs and clubs will be open all the period. I wouldn't really recommend Sardinia for anyone who is really into clubbing, things are not like that here and it's not like the Costa Brave in Spain. It really is not the period for beach holidays even though we are on the Med. It can get quite cold and it has been known to snow.

Have a good time

Ciao Dolphs,

as you were told alghero is not like costa brava in order to clubbin' and so on, but it's defitenely nice and alive, plenty to do for a short period in winter. Not sure if there is any open club in December, but plenty of pubs and similar.Cagliari(sorry if you are not flying here, beautiful city!)has a good selection of clubs and loads of classy lounge bars.

Anyway I wanna just say that hiking, and outdoor activities in general, are just amazing all around Sardinia, I would suggest to get a good outdoor local guide. But you'll enjoy it.Promise!

See you in my beautiful island.

Hi there,

The cool thing about sardinia is that it's not that big. If you can afford it rent a car and move around. It is only a 2.5 hour drive to cagliari. if your into hiking and exploring check out the beach of piscinas.
