Public Transportation from Brindisi to Lecce

We are arriving in Brindisi on the cruise ship Prinsendam on September 22, 2013 at 8am. We would like to travel to Lecce and/or Ostuni - on our own, not a cruise excursion. Is there a bus or train that goes to these places and is there a website we could search to find times and prices? We have to be back at the ship by 4:30pm. Will we have enough time to visit both Lecce and Ostuni?

Thank you very much.

Trains run between Ostuni and Lecce via Brindisi.

For times between any of these places see www.trenitalia.com clicking the UK flag first for English and entering the 'hour' of departure, e.g. '13' for 13.00. To see fares of Regional trains without reserved seats use a date this week, and buy tickets for this type of train in italy not online.

You won't be able to do Lecce and Ostuni because there aren't trains that often and its just not enough time. Also the train station in Ostuni is at the bottom of "the hill" so you need to take a bus that takes you up and then later back down and that's extra time that you need to factor in. Also the very historic center of Lecce is pretty large so it take a while to see the main churches and sites. Both should have great weather in September but I would say wait until the day and if it's raining go to Lecce as there would be more to see indoors.

Arriving at Brindisi airport, any public transport to Lecce? Does it run from the airport? Often? How much would a taxi cost if any to get to Lecce?

Thank you so much, Floro
