I have a 5 week trip in Europe August next year. We have one night in Venice, arriving about midday then leaving on our Cruise the next day, so not a lot of time.
I want to be on the canal or should I choose Lagoon? My agent, organising the 5 weeks hols, has rates for me at Westin Europa, Hotel Danieli and Gritti. Due to travel agency connections all my rates have breakfast and $100US food credit included and upgrade on arrival. I was originally going to book Gritti and wanted a Canal room but at a whopping EURO1220, it's just too much. I can get a canal room at Westin for EUR579 or EUR689 for Unique Grand Canal. Danieli is EUR694 for Deluxe Lagoon.
So we will be having dinner in which ever Hotel we choose using our Food credit for part of the bill. Husband is a chef so we don't need to fine dine but would like good food for dinner and I imagined it having a canal view for both lunch and dinner?
We will only have time for a quick walk around that afternoon and possibly next morning, so location is important as well to be able to get out and about quickly.
I can take a chance on a room at Gritti for EUR730 and my next upgrade category is to Landmark Grant Canal, but what are the chances of that room being available to upgrade to on a Saturday night in Venice summer?
All suggestions appreciated.
