Venice with kids

Any tips for things to do in Venice during 4 days mid-August with two boys 7 and 9? They are not likely to enjoy too many churches or gallaries (which my wife and I have done on other visits to Venice).

Also any recommendations on kid friendly options for hotels.

Had wondered about the Lido to find somewhere with a pool or access to a beech?

1. Re: Venice with kids

Venice is certainly not Disneyworld for children but there are a few things.

Play areas with swings etc. at Parco Savorgnan off the Fondamenta Savorgnan along the Canale Cannaregio

and also at Giardini Pubblico in Castello.

Many children enjoy the vaporetto trips both along the Grand Canale and the much longer trips on larger boats to Burano and Torcello

Even further afield at the far eastern end in the green park of Sant'Elena there is a small skating rink and an artificial climbing wall.

If they like model boats there are lots to see at the Museo Storico Navale at Campo S. Biagio at the entrance to the Arsenale Canal. Selling model boats and kits to make them is a small shop - Gilberto Penzo at calle II dei Saoneri, 2681, San Polo
