Venice in 1 day?

I'll be at Florence in a week. I was wondering if I could drive to Venice, park the car early in the morning and get a brief but complete view of it in the same day and return to Florence.

Need an expert advise on this!! Thanks!!

Almost everything is possible, the point is: will you enjoy it?

You have the answer.

I do not know how long it will take you to drive to Venice but the train takes at least 2 hours 50 minutes so whichever way you travelled a considerable part of the day would be spent travelling.

As for a "complete view of" Venice in part of a day - you must be joking.

Florence will take you a week to explore reasonably thoroughly and I would advise concentrating on that without the distraction of a brief and hectic day in Venice. If you do get bored with Florence, heaven forbid, then there are some serious places within easy reach such as Lucca, Pisa, Prato, and Pistoia to the north and west or San Gimignano, Siena and Arezzo to the south which are all well worth a visit without the trouble of the very lengthy drve to Venice.
