Train trip from Milan to Prague

I want to travel by train from Milan to Prague mid-July. Anyone done that? Any good advice, please? Will a bus trip be better? Or flying?

We have done the trip by car and it took about 10 hours but we did it in 3 days stopping off along the way so it depends if you want to stop off on the way, if you don't then a flight would definitely be the best option, all the low cost airlines do the route.

The journey by train would take at least 13 hours with 2 to 4 changes of train.

easyJet flies from Milan to Prague direct in 90 minutes, with fares starting around €60.

What are some good stops along the way? I'm thinking of doing a leisurely exploratory journey from Milan to Prague. I'd go through Zurich (already been to Vienna, don't need to go back).
