Milan to Rome Flight

I'm looking for a one-way flight, Milan to Rome, in July. The fare is coming up at $380+, just for a one-way flight!

Are Alitalia's fares within Italy always this expensive, or is it just Milan?

Thanks. We have a flight arriving in Milan-Malpensa at 7:45 a.m. It looks like the only low cost flights in the morning hours are out of Linate. Plus, with a 7:45 a.m. flight, it looks like we would just miss the shuttle & would have to wait another hour and a half for a transfer. What would a taxi from one airport to the other cost, & how long would it take?

A taxi would be very expensive as it's about a 70-75 minute journey & could be longer depending on traffic.

Other than the Malpensa to Linate shuttle bus you can take the Express train to Cadorna station, then get a taxi from there or from Malpensa the shuttle bus to Central station then get either a taxi or the Linate shuttle bus.

Have you considered getting a train to Rome? in the end it would probably be quicker.

Unfortunately the only real low-cost carriers between Milan and Rome are Blu Express from Malpensa and Ryanair from Bergamo, but both have flights only early AM or in the evening. Other than that, it's either Alitalia (from MXP and LIN) or AIr One (LIN only).

Note, however, that a roundtrip flight on Alitalia from MXP can be as low as 173 euro (about $225), i.e. as lot less than an O/W flight.

In the event that you prefer a train, take a shuttle bus to central station (see airport website for schedules), hence an EuroStar train - www.trenitalia.com.
