I will be traveling out of Milan, on PUBLIC transport during the first week of March. I was originally going to head up to Chur & St. Moritz but then I read about the Dolomites and thought perhaps heading instead to Bolzano might be preferable to see dramatic mountain scenery. My questions are:
(1) What are the opinions vs. one area over another for dramatic mountain scenery or perhaps there isn't that much difference?
(2) Is there a big difference in VISUAL experience between taking trains vs. buses on either route? (Time and cost is not that important in this case but rather the visual experience is most important)
Thank you! I am from Florida and a change from beaches is really a treat! In Florida there are definitely beach experiences I would suggest for travelers and others I would definitely not suggest, so I am wondering if the same holds true for the mountains in Italy/Switzerland.
