Sirmione or Bardelino

we are on honeymoon in Lake garda at the end of August. We have options in either of these two Can anyone give some pointers as to which one might suit us best. We are 40 somethings who normally dont like to sit around the pool or beach but after a hectic lead up to the wedding might not want to do too much sighseeing. Considering a self catering property in Sirmione and I wondered how easy it might be to get provisions and get around? Same applies to both possibly.

Any contributions gratefully received.

It really depends on what you want to do whilst you are there. Sirmione gets very crowded during the daytime and August is the busiest time of the year on the lake in general. You also need to check exactly where the accommodation is as often it can be well down the peninsular and not actually in the old town. Ferries will take you to most places, but there is only a limited bus service to either Peschiera del Garda or Desenzano.

Bardolino has more space, plus nice lakeside walks in both directions. Ferry services are very good and there is also a bus that travels up the entire eastern shore, between Peschiera del Garda and Riva del Garda as well as to Verona. There are two supermarkets in Bardolino a Migross and a Lidl, again check carefully where the accommodation is has some apartments can be quite a walk from the town centre.
