Best way to see the Alps from Varenna?

I have read about taking the local train and the Bernini Express train, and launching from Lugano and Varenna. What do you recommend? Pros and cons? We're a party of four ladies, ages 8-85. All information is greatly appreciated - thanks.

Prego NationalParxFan,

Soglio is an enchanting and pristine mountain hamlet in Switzerland’s ancient Val Bregaglia (Graubünden) – Surely Soglio isn't a world-renowned tourist destination like St. Moritz or the Bernina Pass, but it's a simple village with lovely walks and stunning views of the Bondasca glacier.

You might enjoy a delicious lunch on the terrace (with views) at La Soglina, but Switzerland is pricey, and food is exorbitantly expensive, so you might visit the local delicatessen and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Wishing you a lovely day in the mountains whatever you decide!
