getting there/away

Taking a honeymoon in Italy, planning on traveling from Siena to the Lake Como region, but unsure the best way to get there from Siena. Any advice is appreciated. Also wondering what is the best airport to get back to the US from the Lake Como region.

Thank you!

To save back tracking check for a multi city air ticket, fly into Rome and out of Milan Malpensa Aeroporto.

Best airport from Como area is Milano Malpensa. The route between Como and Malpensa has an easy train change in Saronno. Trains also run back and forth between Como and central Milan. Be sure to see the Duomo and Galleria in Milan. The Milano Centrale station is also an impressive building, worth having a drink while waiting for a train.

From the Como San Giovanni station (in the town of Como) into Milano Centrale is under an hour by train.

thanks-I have just started researching for a trip to Switzerland and Lake Como area.

Probably flying into Switzerland and home from Milan to USA.

Not sure if could work it in, but my friend would like to see. How far is Cinque Terre area by train to Milan or Lake Como?

Thanks

You may need to pose this as a new question on the Liguria forum so the Italian experts respond, but it's probably no more than two hours from Milan to get to Cinque Terre.
