Thanks Vagabonda! Link provided is useful with English option. I hate missing out on visiting Villa Balbianello - the garden & view is so beautiful.
We are doing a day trip from Milan to Como. We are staying at Best Western Galle. We love outdoor and photography. We were planning to take the tram up to Brunate and Villa Balbianello (but now we know that's closed).
What else is a must do for a day trip during this time? We welcome suggestion/tips.
Which train service is more convenience to our hotel/in interest of time?
Thanks for helping with our travel planning.
Stay flexible with your day trip options, because the lakes are depressing in rain, especially outside peak season.
Perhaps spend your day in Como - Como's historic centre, Duomo, and lakeside promenade are charming, and Como offers shops and restaurants. You would take Trenitalia to Como S. Giovanni.
Thanks. Noted the places you suggested. We will check weather before deciding if it's worth taking the trip from Milan.
We have 3 days in Venice and 4 days in Milan. So we are looking for day trips from Milan that may be interesting. Como came into our attention due to the beautiful location, ease of travel and proximity to Milan. Can you suggest other day trip - in case Como weather is not good?
We are just not into shopping.
Lake Como is beautiful, even in winter, but as a seasonal destination, you would find few amenities, but you might find it worthwhile to visit for a day.
If not Lake Como, you could visit Bergamo, Parma.....
