the violin museum in Cremona

We understand that there is a musical conservationist, currently Sig. Mosconi, who plays the violins in the violin museum at Cremona city hall daily at 8 am, except on Sundays. When we visited Cremona last December, we had gotten there later in the morning and were told this, but we forgot to ask if this 8 am session was open to the public!!! Does anyone know and could you post a response to let us know? We couldn't believe seeing all those Guarneri & Stradaveri & Amati there, and we would love to be able to hear them played on!

This isn't a reply, actually, it's simply to write that we too would love to witness such an emotive act. Any info as to the performance time would be very appreciated. It's actually one of our top priorities in visiting the region by the second fortnight of August. Thanks.

When my wife and I stayed in Cremona a few yearsago there were two places of violin interest.

In the Palazzo die Comune (The Town Hall of 1206-1245) is the Saletta del Violini with a fine collection of violins from the golden age of violin making. At that time the little Museum did not open until 9 a.m. - clearly things have changed.

In the Palazzo Raimondi (1496) is the International School of Violin-making.
