Florence to Bergamo/Ranzanico

We'll be staying in Florence and are planning a side trip to Ranzanico (ancestry). We don't have a car. From the research I've done so far, it looks like we'll have to take a train from Florence to Bergamo, and then a bus from Bergamo to Ranzanico. Is this correct/the most efficient way to get to Ranzanico from Florence? And I'm struggling with figuring out how long it's going to take - whether a day trip is possible. Any insight or tips would be MUCH appreciated!

Definitely not a day-trip. Three hours to Bergamo, with a change of train at Milano Centrale. Then another 45 minutes on the bus bergamotrasporti.it/upload/…C.pdf
