Hi Is it possible to stay a week in Bergamo and visit the lakes by day. Also please recommend a nice hotel for a silver wedding celebration dont mind price

Hi thanks for the reply, can you advise please we like to go out in the evening with a bit of entertainment where would you suggest we stayed on the lakes, as it is a special holiday we want to get it right

Take a look at the Lake Como Forums - there is a frequently asked question pinned at the top of the page that will answer your query.

As it is a special holiday I think you'd be so much better staying at lake Como and doing a day trip to Bergamo...so much more to do and see.

I suppose you have changed your programm by now.

However should you decide to stay in Bergamo there are many nice restaurants in Città Alta, fine for a special occasion:

Stresa and Lake Maggiore are very nice places to stay in. Bergamo is a more central place to stay in if you want to visit other lakes too ( Lake Como, Lake Garda, Lake Iseo...) both by train or by car.
