Can anyone please tell me how long the walk is from Santa Margherita to Portofino, and if you pass Paraggi beach along the way?

One way along the road it is 5 km. I doubt that using the inland the path would be much longer, though the uphill gradients make it somewhat more challenging.

I walked it about 13 years ago on the road as far as Paraggi then up through the woods which I don't think adds to much to the 4-5km walk. If memory serves me it took about an hour

Our notes say 5kms (guess) and took us 55 minutes at a brisk walk following the coast. The inland short cut looked fairly steep.

This wasn`t our original plan but it was a windy day and the ferries weren`t sailing. The buses were so crowded we couldn`t get on. We caught the bus back and would be smarter next time and go to an earlier bus stop.

Hi,

We also walk one way & take the ferry back. There is also a local bus which runs from Santa Margherita to Portofino if you don't want to walk.

A map appears on the only ferry operator's website, with the railway station (stazione) in the top right corner of the map. Go to www1.traghettiportofino.it/index.php… and click Santa Margherita Ligure.

It's under ten minutes' walk.

It is an easy and spectacular 5 km walk and takes less than an hour. Walking road is Ok and safe . Bus stop in Portofino is situated near the church to get back SM . Buy some tickets in tobbacco, you cant get them in the bus. Yes,you can reach the Paraggi beach along that way, approx 0,5 km distance from Portofino.

By bus is cheaper than by boat
