Getting to Cinque Terre

Will only be in Portofino for day with cruise ship. How easy is it to get to Cinque Terre and how long does it take. Are there ferries? Is it worth seeing or our we better of just relaxing around Portofino.

You can get on the train in Santa Margherita Ligure and it will take 60-90 minutes to get to Riomaggiore, the southernmost village of the 5 villages.

Whether it's worth it or not depends on how badly you wish to see it. Two to three hours of your day would be spent on travel to and from CT. There's plenty to see around Portofino and SML.

It would take an hour to Monterosso from Santa Margherita by train.

Another possibility would be to ferry from Portofino to the Cinque Terre.
