Arriving La Spezia by Cruise Ship

We will be arriving La Spezia on Oceania Cruise Lines Is it reasonable to walk to the city center and see any major tourist sights from the cruise ship docks? What principal sites would you suggest that we see during our 12 hour stay?

The tender will bring you on to passeggiata Morin which is 2 mins walk from the main shopping area of the city which is pedestianised between Corso Cavour and Via Prione and runs from the Port to the railway station in which there are a number of museums and good shops, bars and cafes. You can visit the villages of the cinque terre. portovenere. lerici which all are nearby and easily connected by bus train or boat. Further afield are Portofino, Pisa and the historic town of lucca or even further still approx 2 hours away is florence. It all depends on your interests and how you wish to spend your day.

I am going on a cruise and will be in La Spezia at the end of Sept. What advice do you have for another cruiser looking to plan a day off ship. where did you go? How did you travel there?
