Flying into Genoa on way to Cinque Terra...

Should we stay in Genoa one night and take in a few site sir just head on out of town right away. We will spend four nights in Vernazza before heading into the Tuscan region. Flying out of Genoa at end of trip 11 days later. If you recommend a stay in Genoa, what is best place to rent a room?

If there is nothing you have found in your research that you want to see in Genoa - don't stop there! You can see what attractions TA users have recommended most highly for that city, under tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g187823-Activiti…

As to where you might stay if you stopped, there is no single "best place", it depends on your tastes, budget and what you would be doing (or where you want to leave from, for location. See tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g187823-Genoa_Italian… - you can sort the list in order of prices or ratings.

If you are taking the Volabus or Rapid Bus from the airport, both stop at the Principe and Brignole stations: for hotels near the latter see booking.com/landmark/it/genova-brignole.html

See also Genoa's official tourist website http://www.visitgenoa.it/en/homepage

The area between Genova Brignole station and the central Volabus bus stop at Piazza de Ferrari is perhaps more pleasant than the area around Genova Piazza Principe train station.

For the Volabus, see www.airport.genova.it/v2/index.php…

Agree with the above, the Brignole area is better than Principe. They are both nice and typical but the area around principe is not the nicest to sleep in. A giid dinner with pesto and a walk in the porto antico are 2 reasons more than acceptable for a quiet night in Genova.
