spillover from Cannes Film Fest and Monte Carlo Gran Prix

We're planning on touring Genoa and Italian Riveria in mid to late May 2014. I've discovered that the Cannes Film Fest and the Monte Carlo Gran Prix are also about that time. Should we expect spillover from those two well known events to have an impact on hotel availability and larger crowds near Genoa and the Portofino/Santa Maria Lig. area?

If so, would it be worth our while to tour that area in early May instead?

Grazie!

Genoa is 140 miles from Cannes. There will be no effect.

Definitely not. There's some effect in Ventimiglia and Bordighera very close to the border, but absolutely none east of San Remo.
