cinque terre/ corniglia

For anyone who has been to Cinque Terre: I'm wondering if the blue trail, from Manorola to Vernazza can bypass Corniglia, staying on the lower level and avoiding the trip up and down the stairs. Or does the path proceed up the stairs into Corniglia, then proceed to Vernazza from the village? Our intent is to bypass Corniglia altogether.

If you want to by-pass Corniglia, get the train from Corniglia station to Vernazza. If you want to avoid the steps, get the bus from Corniglia station to Corniglia. Or walk up the road the bus goes up - the height gain is the same as the steps, but it may be easier on the muscles.

The trail goes from Manarola along the sea to the train station level of Corniglia and then up the stairs to the town of Corniglia, clilmbs some more and then descends into Vernazza.

Going the other direction, the trail from Vernazza descends a little ways into the town of Corniglia and then goes all the way down to the train station/sea level to continue to Manarola.

But there is a bus that goes up and down from the train station to the town of Corniglia. The easiest way to time it is to arrive by train from Manarola as the bus generally meets the train. If coming from Vernazza you will usually see the bus sitting in the square in town and you can get a ride down when the bus is ready.
