CT by train from Genoa

We end a Mediterranean cruise in Genoa and want to make our next stop Cinque Terre - not sure which village yet. Obviously car hire would be absurd for this leg so can the good TA folks please confirm/advise that there are regular trains from Genoa and, in particular, which station we need to change at to pick up a local CT train.

After a couple of days in CT, we will want to head toward Tuscany and beyond by car, so is the best option to pick up a rental car in La Spezia??

There are quite frequent trains. See www.trenitalia.com/homepage_en.html looking for trains from Genoa to one of the villages. The site will say where you have to change, if a change is necessary. Use a travel date in the next 7 days to see the costs of local trains.

The best place to pick up a rental car depends on where you are going. It might be La Spezia, or it might be somewhere nearer your destination.

The Genoa station near the cruise terminal is called Genova Piazza Principe. On the website recommended in reply 1, it appears in the results as GE PP when you search for connections from Genoa to a specific Cinque Terre village like Monterosso.
