Paris to Cinque Terre

What is the best way to get from Paris to Cinque Terre in July? Our final destination is Rome.

Also, we have about 6 days to get from Cinque Terre to Rome...any suggestions on stops (by train) along the way (that would include a night or 2 in Florence)? Also, how many nights should we plan in Cinque Terre and what area is best to stay in while visiting Cinque Terre?

If you want to get from Paris to the Cinque Terre in a day, you would need to fly from Paris to either Genoa or Pisa, and then take a train.

Two nights should be enough for a brief look at the Cinque Terre, including a walk along at least part of the coastal trail. You should stay in one of the villages, but which one is a matter of personal taste.

Similarly, it is a matter of personal taste to decide which other cities you should visit. You really need to read a guide book and decide which places would be of interest to you. If you are not interested in art and architecture, there is not much point in going to Florence.

Apart from Florence, possible places on the rail route would include Lucca and Orvieto.

Or alternatively, if going by day trains, you could take a direct train to Turin and stop there, then perhaps stop in Genoa. Or you could go by night train direct from Paris to Milan, then perhaps stop in Genoa.

Between Genoa and the Cinque Terre, you might wish to stop in Camogli and Santa Margherita-Portofino.

Then visit Florence on the way (perhaps via Orvieto) to Rome.

If you wish to go to the Cinque Terre via Florence, which is a longer-distance route and usually more expensive, then Bologna may be of interest.

I think the best way to get to Cinque Terre/Tuscany from Paris is by airplane and Pisa airport is an excellent choice, then I would suggest you to reserve a hotel along the coast, for example Forte dei Marmi or the lovely little town of Pietrasanta are perfect bases, then you could plan as follows:

Day trip to the Cinque Terre by train or by boat directly from Forte dei Marmi

Day trip to Lucca

Day trip to Florence

Day trip to Pisa

Guided half day trip to Carrara Marble quarries

Spend a day on one of the best beach clubs of Italy!!!

also consider that every year in July there is a wonderful PUCCINI OPERA FESTIVAL in an open air theater in Torre del Lago, don't miss it!!!!!

Send me a message to know more!!!

Enjoy your stay
