We booked a flight Amsterdam Rimini in Windjet. 08-09-2012, booking ref. nr. F8A334 and paid 643,08. Two days later we heard the company stops the flights. We got no information, we wrote to all departments of Windjet from info to chairman, from chairman to president. No answer, No information. A scandal for Italy. We lost 643,00 euro and on last moment we had to go by car, extra costs 800,00 euro. WHERE CAN WE GET OUR MONEY BACK?? WHO IS HELPING US?? WHEN THERE IS ONE FLIGHT ORGANISATION WICH OFFER US COMPENSATION FOR A NEW FLIGHT OR WHAT EVER WE WILL LOVE iTALIAN AS EVER BEFORE. WHEN NOBODY GIVE RESPONSE WE WILL CONTINUE START BLAMING ITALY AND NEVER COME BACK.

In this instance you can only contact IATA and the Italian Civil Aviation Authority ENAC

Contact New Livingstone (Italian Airliner). They swap the ex Wind Jet tickets for New Livingstone tickets (on available routes)

When a company goes broke, there is nowhere you can claim compensation (unless you have good travel insurance). It is not the fault of the Italian government.

It is a very bad idea to put your e-mail address onto a public forum such as TA: it is an invitation to every spammer on the planet. I suggest you delete your post and start the thread again. Click on "Report inappropriate content" and select "Delete my post".

There is a financial risk involved in travelling. A parallel thread is running at the moment "Club ABC Tours going out of business". These are hard economic times and the competition for low cost transportation is fierce. I'd prefer to pay more and fly with what used to be called flag carriers. Those that, in theory, are too big to fail (but look at the old PanAm years ago). If you can get your tickets swapped - at a "small" surcharge - that's all you can expect. It would be political suicide for governments to bail out failed no-frills airlines with all the other demands on government money these days.

re #2 The name of the airline New Livingston suggests that there was an "old" Livingston. And indeed there was. It went bust in 2010. Google for details. There have been others. Running an airline is a risky business and as sydneynick says you need good travel insurance these days.
