Venice ( or mestre) to Ravenna

What's the best way to get to Ravenna from Mestre? Train, bus, car?

I'm not seeing any direct train routes, and it looks kind of expensive. Is it better to rent a car (2people)

Thanks

Really? 12.45 Euro through Ferrara is "kind of expensive"? Click on All solutions to see cheaper fares.

Gas alone would cost 15.42 Euro if driving. Add rental to that.

Saw fares over 30 euros. Didn't see 12.50. Will check again. Thanks

Check on www.trenitalia.com and if you do not see the cheap trains when the search results are displayed, click the "All solutions" button at lower left.

I see now why I was getting such high prices -- in case someone else is trying to book

The Trenitalia website gives only high prices when the date you're trying to book is more than a week away.

True, prices for Regionale trains are only given seven days in advance. But there is *no point* in booking Regionale trains: they have no seat reservations, and they cannot sell out.

it doesnt make any difference if you leave from Mestre or Venice. I always go from Venice and take the ES to Bologna. From Bologna you take the regional train to Ravenna. when you are traveling IMHO time is money. If you have all the time in the world then take the slow trains..but if you only have a limited time then take the direct route.

Go to the station in Venice and buy a ticket to Bologna...from there you change to the train to Ravena.
