Bologna airport to town

How far is the airport from the main part of town? How much would a taxi ride cost? Do taxis in Italy only hold maximum 4 passengers?

Here are some useful websites:

We've always taken a shuttle bus from the airport to the central railway station and then taken a taxi (you may need two taxis depending on how much luggage you have). Sorry, can't remember the cost but it is not high.

How large was the taxi? Was the ride expensive?

Most taxis in Italy take comfortably two across the back seat and one alongside the driver - some may fit three across the back seat. With four people luggaage would be an issue. You may be lucky in the taxi queue and a 'people carrier' turns up but this, in our experience, is an unlikely occurance.

As I said I have no recollection on the cost of our many taxi journeys into town but the figure of five to ten euros comes to mind depending on where we were staying. Many people, particularly the young if they are staying centrally, prefer to walk as it is not that far. Our daughter stayed at a hotel near the railway staion and walked in for dinner each evening.
