Day trip triangle Tivoli, etc.

During rainy November what route and means of transport would you recommend for Tivoli, Andrians, d'este, and ? All in one day? Just two active seniors with two weeks in Rome and time for interesting day trips.

You can certainly do them both in one day. It will probably consume about 2 to 3 hours (a little more at Hadrian's villa if you want to take more of it in). Also count on a couple of hours for a leisurely lunch (I recommend Ristorante Antica Sibilla for its food and views). Cheapest way would be train and bus (supplemented perhaps by a cab) and the most expensive way but the most catered way would be to hire a driver from Rome (RomeCabs has prices on their website for this trip). RoninRome's website has excellent instructions on how to take the bus/train route if that is what you want.

ATLTraveling, can you give us an approximate cost for a train station-Villa Adriana taxi ride, and Villa Adriana-Villa d'Este ride? We know about local No. 4 buses, but they seem unfrequent, especially early evening. We're going next month, but are still undecided whether to use bus or train from Rome, and taxis in Tivoli. Are any to be found, for example, at Villa Adriana late afternoon.? We know the train station is not downtown, but it seems more convenient to go from Roma Termini and avoid a transfer in Roma Tiburtina. What would you suggest? Thank you in advance for a reply.

Sorry, given my schedule, we took the expensive route by using a private driver, but I am sure there are many others who can tell you the public transport cost (try a search on the Italy forum first).

You can do it all for 6 Euro with a one-day BIRG ticket.

Use this route planner:

Check POI for From and To and enter Tivoli Villa d'Este and Tivoli Villa Adriana and the time when you expect to do the trip.
