Rome to Milan by rail

I'm spending a week in Rome during April and would like to travel up to Milan for a few days after.

I'm looking for a fast train (possibly Eurostar) to travel on a Friday morning.

Does anybody have advice for this. Would it be better (cheaper) to book in advance or am I better off just booking on the day?

Thanks

Check www.trenitalia.it for train timings and fares. Supplements are charged for high speed trains - Eurostar (ES) and Eurocity (EC).

Seat booking is necessary for travel on a Friday by ES trains so you need to book in advance.

Thanks Robert, I've just booked at Trenitalia.
