Eating in Italy

Am I correct in thinking that any bread put on the table will cost extra? Does the pane e coperto cover charge actually include anything or is it just a fee that you have to pay at most restaurants?

The bread is not extra. You are paying for it and a cover charge together. This is an Italian custom.

Prego! And if the bread in Tuscany tastes like it is missing something, it is. Salt.
