I think it is an exposition grounds, where trade shows can be held- is that correct? So , does this mean that everyone will have to take the train to and from the Airport during that time?

I've been trying to check 100% but haven't come up with anything yet. And oddly I was expecting to have to drive down to FCO yesterday but that's been delayed a week or so. I'm sure it doesn't mean that the main spur road that links the GRA to the airport is closed for that would mean disruption on an epic scale. What I think they are referring to is the new road that links this spur road and the airport with Nuova Fiera, a road that's only been open a year or so. It shouldn't impact getting in to the city centre from the airport. Depending upon which neighbourhood you're heading for, you can always take the GRA going clockwise and get off at junction 1.

Here is some info on the Nuova Fiera...just a few km from FCO (Roma Fiumicino) airport it is a project of the famous architect Tommaso Valle where trade fairs and exhibitions will be held. To have an idea of the events to be held I found this list
