honeymoon in Rome, Amalfi coast

HI, i am helping organise a honeymoon, i was thinking of 3-4 days in Rome, then onto amalfi coast for 3 nights to visit pompeii, explore amalfi. I then wondered about somehow getting to Florence or onto Venice or lake Como, so then we get to see so many different aspects of Italy. I have some questions:

1. what is the best way to go from Rome to the amalfi, maybe staying Postiano, or salerno.

2. how to get from there up to Florence, or if not recommended there, onto Venice or Lake Como...

any ideas are gratefully received.

thanks

How many days do you have in total?

Are any flights purchased yet, or options determined?

1) Train, then ferry or bus or private driver

2) train

they are looking to go for 10-11 days. no flights booked yet, just looking at itineraries etc to see what is best.

I have just thought about 3 nights in Rome, then train to Naples, then transfer to Positano for 3 nights, where they can explore amalfi coast, and day trip to Pompeii. then flight from Naples to Venice for 2 nights.

Consider staying on Capri, it’s the honeymoon island. Train from Rome to Naples then regular ferry to Capri. From Capri you can do day trips by ferry to Amalfi Coast etc. Also there are many private drivers that can meet the ferry from Capri at either Naples or Sorrento for Amalfi Coast day trips including Pompeii and Positano.

Sorrento Top Car is the one we use. On Capri Hotel Canasta is perfect for a honeymoon.

From Naples you can take the train to Florence, Venice or Milan for Lake Como.

I used to love Venice and have been there several times, including a one-month stay. I visited last year in May and couldn't wait to get out of there! Cruise ships have ruined Venice! There are shoulder to shoulder crowds all over, not just between San Marco and the Rialto Bridge, as was always the case.

I'd vote for Rome + Capri or Rome/Capri/Positano and no more!

The way I look at it, three nights is only two full days. It would be my preference to have only two destinations, but of course it is up to the couple. Do look at the transit times and how much they eat up.

On Capri Hotel La Minerva is also perfect for a honeymoon.

Thank you for the advice, will look at Capri, didn't think of there. I've been looking at the hotels, think we'll going to struggle with being so short notice!
