Help with Ferry from Naples.

We are arriving at the Capodichino airport at 16:15 on monday and we are going to stay at the Hotel Nettuno De Charme in Forio.

Are there any boats going directly to Forio or do we have to go to the Ischia port first?

Whats the name of the harbor in Naples?

Alilauro run hydrofoils from Beverello to Forio. Most of them stop in Ischia Porto first. Journey takes about an hour.

This summer's schedules for the Alilauro hydrofoils (mid-June / mid-Sept), the only line that serves Forio, can be found here:

alilauro.it/oraridal15Giugnoal15Settembre.pdf

Of the last two of the day on that route, the 17:35 runs daily... whereas the 19:45 goes only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, so don't wait around for that!

In high season, Forio mostly gets dedicated services of its own - and neither of those is set to make a stop at Ischia Porto!

Unless your plane is delayed significantly, you should be able to get to the 'Molo Beverello' quay in the harbour for the 17:35 - we did (just!) when collecting and returning our niece who had similarly timed flights last month, when it was running at 17:20 and calling at Porto along the way!

With plenty of time, catch the Alibus...

Otherwise a taxi is your best bet, usually taking 20 minutes or so to reach the port, depending on traffic!

Later, that line offers further daily runs, but only going as far as Ischia Porto, again from Beverello, at 17:55 (calls in at Mergellina) and 20:20.

.......................

Alternatively:

The SNAV line has a hydrofoil from Beverello to Casamicciola at 19:00

Caremar - hydrofoils Beverello to Porto at 18:15 and 21:05..... or ferry ships from the Porta di Massa to Porto at 19:25 and 21:55

Medmar - ferry ship from the Porta di Massa to Porto at 19:00 (Fri/Sat only, another at 21:30).

Just so you're clear, look here for the harbour layout, details of the shuttle buses etc...

Where you have the choice, perhaps go to Casamicciola, as it's then a shorter bus ride or a cheaper taxi journey on to Forio!

OK?

Peter

PS... One last thing - don't get off at the wrong stop... amongst those mentioned above, there are crossings that call in at Mergellina and Procida...

It's easily done, especially if getting dark - but the harbour at Procida looks like this:

Oh, one more question. When taking the bus, what line is it and at what stop do we have to get off at to reach the Molo Beverello? And how long is that bus ride?

Thanks!

It's called the Alibus.... sort of a pun as "ali" is Italian for wings... which both the aeroplanes and, originally, hydrofoils had!

It's designed for visitors, and only makes a very limited number of stops!

Can't really miss it, since it says "Alibus" on the front - but, as suggested above, do see....
