Amalfi to Naples by Ferry

Hi all,

Is there a regular ferry service from Amalfi to Naples in May (2013)?

We're looking to conclude our trip to Italy on the Amalfi coast and fly back home from Naples, I'm looking for a relaxing and scenic boat trip from Amalfi to the Naples bay, not necessarily a speedy hydrofoil.

What are our options?

Thanks!

Meraj

This year, the Metro del Mare hydrofoil between Amalfi and Naples-Beverello Dock operated only for six weeks from mid-July through the end of August.

Schedules for 2013 are presently unknown, but it is highly unlikely that there will be any direct service in May.

There IS a direct SITA bus from Amalfi to Naples, operated in the early morning from Monday through Saturday, year-round. The one-way fare is only 4 Euros.

Otherwise, you can take the SITA bus to Salerno, then connect to the Trenitalia unreserved regionale train to Naples.

IF you are determined to travel from Amalfi to Naples by sea in May, here is how to go about it:

1. Alicost hydrofoil from Amalfi to Sorrento

2. Alilauro hydrofoil from Sorrento to Naples-Beverello Dock

You will need to check schedules at the beginning of May (2013) to view services. You must plan very carefully, in order not to MISS the boat-to-boat connection in Sorrento.

This service by sea will be much more expensive than the land options noted in my posting above, but may be well worth the cost if you are keen on seeing the topography of the coastline by sea.
