Hints and tips please

Myself and 3 friends are off to Valencia at the end of Sept, in celebration of my friends upcoming wedding - although technically a "hen weekend" it will not be the traditional tacky affair. Just good friends, good weather (hopefully), good food and good fun.

We are staying at hotel Las Arenas. Does anyone have any tips about the best way of getting to and from the hotel to the town centre? Or is there plenty to do near the hotel? Also we would like to go to a nice (a touch expensive but not totally extravagant) restaurant one night and am in need of suggestions. We would then like to go to a bar/club afterwards so any suggestions for good / friendly places would be appreciated. We do not want anything too heavy, just somewhere where we can have a few drinks and a bit of a dance.

Any help will be appreciated.

A few tips:

A trendy restaurant: "La Sucursal" at Guillem de Castro 118, but not found its website in English!

An introduction to "La Sucursal" (in English)

"Rias Gallegas" is a mecca for seafood lovers.

Eat paella at "La Marcelina"

Enjoy the refreshing "horchata" or "leche merengada" at Horchateria Santa Catalina.

Don't miss this ancient wine bar: Casa Montaña

Typical mussels in "Bar El Pilar" at Moro Zeit 13.

Sorry, don't know about clubbing.

From Las Arenas and walking to the Americas cup there are several small hotels and a few restaurants, including LA Pepica

which is famous for Paella and a pub well known in Valencia, "vivir sin dormir" have a few tables facing the beach, i haven't tried myself but may be it's a good place for trying 'agua de valencia'

There are also a few pubs at the Americas cup installations.

To get to the center a taxi ride or use the nearby tram.

Apart of these restaurants and the beachs, there is nothing to do near this hotel, you will need to move to the center, read the previous post that gives some good places to go.

Finally: try Horchata at Santa Catalina (between 'plaza redonda' and 'plaza de la reina' in the center)
