I am a bit confused

Hi

Hoping that some of you kind TA's might be able to clarify my directions.

I will be travelling from Australia via Bangkok and flying with Swiss.

I understand that my flight arrives at Terminal 1.

I am staying at Hostal Apolo, Juanelo 24 Madrid in the La Latina district.

I am wanting to clarify my directions to get to the Hostal by public transport.

I have posted on Lonely Planet and these are the directions that I have been advised.

I take the yellow express bus to Puerto de Atocha Renfe, how many stops is this from the airport, or approximately how long will it take?

From Renfe I take the blue line metro to Tirso de Molina, which I am advised is 3 stops.

The Hostal I am advised is a short walk from here.

Have I got it right.

Many thanks for your much appreciated afvice.

kind regards

Marley

You can also make the journey completely by metro:

From the airport take (Pink) line 8 to Nuevos Ministerios.....Transfer to (Blue) Line 10 to Alonso Martinez, then transfer to (Green) Line 5 for La Latina.

La Latina is the nearest metro stop to your address.

Total journey time estimated 45 minutes

Pavoreal, I usually like and even applaud your suggestions, but this one...it's an anomaly.

Airport express bus is a good idea. More info on right hand side of this page on Top QUestions.

Metro idea requires transfers. If you really prefer that, consider Metro from

Barajas/airport to Nuevos Ministerios. This part of the Metro is new with space for luggage at Nuevos Ministerios you will escalator or elevator to help you with the transfer to CERCANIAS/light rail and take route to Atocha. More info...again right hand side..with Top Questions...cheaper way than taxi to get to my hotel.

Thanks for your replies the original directions seem less complicated.

Are they correct?

Thanks

Pavoreal's instructions to La Latina are correct, and I apologize if your hotel is near La Latina, then this route with its transfers is better than the airport bus or the Metro/Cercanias I was describing.

Thanks

Do you think the three train method is better than my original advice of 1 bus, 1 train .

It seems that, now I also have to catch another train, change from the blue line to the green line.

My confusion is increasing.

Thanks again

The metro is very easy to use. Once you have paid for the journey (€2 from the airport), you stay within the system. At each change of station you just follow the signs to the correct platform for your next train.
