Bus to El Escorial

I am a senior citizen with a few brain cells still functioning. Will I have any difficulty purchasing a bus ticket to El Escorial? I speak no Spanish.

I understand I would go to the Intercambiador de Moncloa, which is in the basement of Madrid's Moncloa Metro Station. Take Bus #664; purchase ticket from bus driver. Is that information correct.

Or should I take the train? Where would I purchase the train ticket and should I purchase it in advance? Thanks

Thanks for this useful bus information. It's a bit of a hike from the train station to the Place - do the buses stop closer, or do they just stop at the train station? And I'm going to ask a similar question about Toledo, where the hike from the train station to the city itself is quite a hike!

Cheers
