It is safe, precisely because it is chlorinated. Plus, depending on the area in town the water come from different sources, some of them taste a bit weird from origin, plus the chlorine.

The taste of water has improved overall in this city over the years, but still many of us locals do not regularly drink tap water (unless we have a filtering device) but use it for cooking, etc

Said that, "perfectly safe" water can upset your stomach when you're not used to the mineral contents and to the local strains of "good" bacteria. So, when travelling I do prefer not risking, so I limit my intake of tap water to the minimum.

Bon viatge!

globe:

Every city in Spain has to meet strict national standards for water quality, so you can drink tap water everywhere.

I agree with Belsaita that if you are not used to the mineral content, it can upset your stomach. When I lived in California, we had many friends from Mexico who would visit. Sometimes they would get upset stomachs because they were not used to the water.

Fine for cleaning your teeth (and cooking) but locals buy bottled water for drinking.

You could go to a supermarket and for about 50 cents or less get a 1.5 litre bottle from a named spring; smaller bottles very cheap) water drink
