Sorry. I'm not psychic! Can you change reservtions? If they do open on 1st Sept there may still be teething problems mid-month.

The hotel is in any case a long way out of the centre and any sightseeing will require a longish bus or, metro ride before you get anywhere.Hilton on Diagonal is also out of the centre but better conncted.

HI Lynda,

Us and a group of friends are also planning on staying at the Hilton Diagonal del Mar, pre and post cruise early May/June of 2006. We were told that it was a new hotel but it was located near a beach and by a shopping mall where we could get local transportation into Barcelona. We have not booked hotel as yet, so if there are cartain hotels that you recommend would you let us know. Thanks.

That hotel is near beach and shopping centre and that's it! I'd go for something more central so you can walk from hotel to most of the sights.

Two near the port are: tryp Apolo and Barcelona universal at bottom end of Parallel. We've stayed at tryps in other cities and always been pleased. Part of Sol Melia group: guaranteed best prices on www.solmelia.com . Barcelona Universal is a new hotel which has good reviews here.

The area is the old theatre district (eg. Apolo theatre hence tryp apolo) and isn't the most upmarket part of BCN. but then none of this part of city centre/OLd Town is upmarket. Passeig de Gracia/Paseo de Gracia IS upmarket so hotels also pricier. Good area for sightseeing too, though!

If you look at venere.com you can choose hotels by area and book more than one room at a time (something impossible on expedia for one).Lots of comments from guests, good rates too.
