Toledo and Segovia

What is the best way to get to Toledo from Madrid if not renting a car?

Is it possible to see Toledo and Segovia in one day? If so, what is the best way to get from Toledo to Segovia or vice versa?

When we were in Spain in 2004, we took a bus from Madrid to Toledo. It was a easy, comfortable 1 hour trip. Since then I believe that there is now AVE (high speed) train service. That might be preferable if the train leaves from the centrally located Atocha station. The bus station is more on the outskirts of Madrid.

There is no way that you can do both Toledo and Segovia in one day! One day is necessary just to see the main highlights of Toledo, and Segovia's attractions will take the better part of a day. Not only that, but one of the best things is simply spend some time wandering the narrow streets of both cities.

There is no public transportation between Toledo and Segovia. You have to go through Madrid.
