Fresh fruit/local market

Staying in Club Casablanca. Where is the best place locally to buy fresh fruit (loose and not pre-packed)? Also is there a local market and if so, where and when?

Hi Romans. We are also in Casablanca at the moment and have just been buying our fruit in the supermarket down the hill. I notice on the town plans that a mercado municipal is shown to the north of the bus station/beach but as it is a bit of a walk we haven't quite ventured there yet. Hope you enjoyed today's sunshine - we had a nice walk along to the Playa Bollullo this morning.

Hi, the supermarket Katy refers to is very good, we often use it. You can either buy pre packed, but watch the quality. Or fresh, which is what we do. Buy only what you need for a day or two, as it does not keep in the hot weather. On the price card is a numbered code, weigh at a nearby scale, using the code number. As you may at home. The cashier cannot weigh at the till.

Their long life bags are very good, we brought a couple home.

Hi Roman,

if you are staying in the Casablanca Apartments on the edge of La Paz go down the steps to the shopping centre and the supermarket sell good fruit or a 2 mins further is Hyper Dino? they are just as good but the local market is about 30 -40 min walk away.

I don't know Club Casablanca but assume it is the Casablanca Apartments, if so a good choice. The shopping centre has a very good bread shop.

If you are looking for fresh veg, fish and meat, try the Municipale Market. They also have a flea market on the roof on a Saturday. Parking is free provided you buy something, you get a ticket on entering with the car, and get it stamped at any of the shops inside. There is also an Altesa Supermarket there, this place is worth a visit.

If you are coming from Playa Jardin, it is up the hill on the right hand side.
