Tenerife- Where is best for a little refinement

My husband and I are looking at Tenerife for a week in March to golf and have a bit of a relax.

We both enjoy a bit of nightlife (well wine bars, nice restaurants and cafes - definately not clubbing), shopping and buzz but do not want to be in the middle of it all.

Can anyone suggest a refined area of Tenerife that would have access to golf and would suit our needs?

Thx

I don't know abut access to golf as it's not something I do but for refinement look at Del Duque. It's the more upmarket area.

Hi Kathryn,

check out the Hotel Botanico in PDLC I think it is one of the best hotels in Tenerife and they have a golf course. the reality is it is no more than an 18 hole putting green and driving nets but that suited me. They have 3 very good restaurants and they offer flexi dining where you can purchase ( at the time of booking) vouchers to use for lunch or dinner, so on a 2 week holiday I would buy 6-7 vouchers and this gives me the freedom to eat out. Near by is the Magnolia and the Tucan restaurants which are very good but being near the Botanico they charge similar prices.

The Botanico is in The La Paz area of PDLC which is in a residential area and a good 10-20 min walk in to town but lots of bars and restaurants on the way. The Magnolia and bars are at the end of the drive to the Botanico.

Also a few years ago Condenas voted the Botanico's spa the best in Spain.

Another plus unders 16 are not allowed in the spa or the spa pool area.

Keith.

I saw the Hotel Botanico when I visited Puerto de la Cruz 2 years ago and was impressed with the hotel and its Thai spa. If you can afford this hotel, go for it. It is probably the most beautiful hotel on the island.

If money is no object, then the Abama is not too shabby either - it will give you a world class golf course and all the refinement you seek, well it was OK for Bill Clinton! but is not close to nightlife http://www.abamahotelresort.com/

However a good compromise is the Las Madrigueras http://en.hotellasmadrigueras.com/ which has it all, it is in a quiet area of Las Americas, it has direct access to a superb golf course and is within easy walking distance of some great entertainment and restaurants in a lovely area.

@Dok when you say there I take it you mean the Abama I think Vin Diesel stayed there while others stayed at the Sheraton in La Caleta. IMO it always looks like it could have been used on the set of Star Wars!

When they were making Clash of the Titans, Ralph Fiennes stayed at the Gran Bahia de Duque while Liam Neesen was said to be in the Villa Cortes.
